Hi, there!
My name is Bryana Duley, and I work as an Interior Designer at EwingCole in Old City, Philadelphia and am the current Professional Development Director for the ASID PA East Chapter. I recently obtained my Master's in June 2023 from Drexel University's Interior Architecture and Design program. I am an innovative, trustworthy, and dedicated designer, who is passionate about creating designs that make everyday life easier and enjoyable.
From a young age, I became self-aware of my love for architecture, design, and the art world. This led me to always choose art as an elective and eventually take my first formal architecture class in high school. I felt lucky to go off to college knowing which career I wanted to pursue and have always been thankful for my family and teachers support along the way. I attended West Virginia University with the intention of obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and graduated with a double major and a minor in 2017. During the last year of my undergraduate degrees, I interned at a small firm where I gained knowledge of hospitality design; more specifically Marriott International designs, and brand standards. After graduation, I spent a few years working in systems furniture at a Steelcase dealership in the DMV area. This industry allowed me to gain experience in commercial, healthcare, government, and educational verticals, while working side-by-side with A+D firms. While I enjoyed working alongside my peers, I always knew I wanted to go back to school and obtain a master’s degree. I have a passion for mentoring younger designers, but I could never justify leaving my full-time job. As I was contemplating my next career move, COVID-19 was upon us and ultimately, I found myself laid off by summer 2020. In that moment, it was my mom who pushed me to apply for graduate school while I looked for jobs to shift into the residential industry. I told myself I would do whatever came first, and ironically, the week I started my new job, I found myself accepted into Drexel’s Interior Architecture and Design master’s program. Embarking on this new career path and simultaneously working toward my master’s degree at Drexel, showed me that when one door closes, several will open. If it were not for this shift, I would have not been in the Student Representative role for the ASID PA East Chapter assisting students from all schools in the surrounding area. As a designer, I feel it is important to never stop learning and always remember the late nights and failures that got us there. I feel lucky to wake up everyday doing what I love and helping others expand their creative skills. Moving forward, my hope is to continue supporting emerging design professionals within the Philadelphia area and obtain my NCIDQ and WELL AP to further enhance my career. |
